Allergy testing

We offer in house allergy testing for many different environmental allergens that are common in the hill country area. These allergens are broken into panels that include dust mites, animal dander, mold, and pollens.

This testing may come in two different parts: skin prick testing and intradermal testing. Prick testing is placing a drop of the antigen on the surface of the skin and scratching it into the skin while intradermal testing is injecting a small amount of the antigen under the skin surface.

The test in its entirety takes less than two hours and patients go home with results the same day.

For those in which skin testing is not an option, we offer RAST testing which is available through a blood draw. This blood draw tests for heightened levels of IgE in the bloodstream for specific allergens (environmental and food). Patients receive their results in about two to three weeks.
